Time for a Chimney Sweep?

Is it time for a Chimney Sweep? - It is recommended once a year

This is something that we think to ourselves “We must get our chimney cleaned before this winter” but most of us forget or put it off. It is vital to have this done to avoid chimney fires etc – I have personally seen a chimney fire and it is very scary!

In your house you never want to be able to smell smoke in your home, and if you can then it is most likely that you need a chimney sweep and/or an appraisal to test its efficiency. Another tell tale sign is for the smoke to exit out of the fire and into the home when you open the door to add more wood.

These problems may indicate that your chimney has excess creosote, or that the flue needs sweeping, or both. It is important to get a chimney swept, as excess creosote in your chimney can often be what causes a chimney fire.

Just remember the best option for anything is to always contact a professional - browse your local yellow pages/directory to find an experienced chimney sweeper.
