Claw Foot/Freestanding Baths |
|
There are quite a few companies the resurface and restore old claw foot baths, we got ours for $500, it was fully re-enameled and re-painted, looks great. For us that was a cheaper option then getting a builder in to box a non free standing bath. Also some of the modern free standing baths we were looking at were in excess of $1500. Just remember if you are going to buy a claw foot bath, you will need a few people to help you lift it! Free standing modern baths looks very elegant in any bathroom, and the best thing is that you can just about put them anywhere in your bathroom. A claw foot bath adds character to any house and they are also a timeless classic, never to go out of fashion. Sure they are heavy but a lot easier to install than having to box, tile etc a non free standing bath! Every house needs a bath, so many people say they don’t need a bath, but once you have one I doubt you would want to get rid of it. You can also have shower fittings installed above your bath as well which can come in very handy for bathing pets etc. We also had our floor strenghthen underneath where we were placing the bath. At first the plumber and builder were unsure whether it would hold water let alone a person without falling through the floor. It has now been there for over a year and has had a lot of use (and it hasn't fallen through the floor or even made a squeak).
